About Us / Ashbourne Farms History: Ashbourne Farms raises Animal Welfare Approved beef cattle in the rolling hills of Kentucky. The farm is owned by Ina Brown Bond and her son, Austin Musselman. Ashbourne Farms is nearly 1600 acres and is at the headwaters of Harrods Creek. The farm has several historic farmhouses and cabins dating back to the early 1800’s, and other features which qualify it for the Historic Register. With the help of Farm Manager Clarence Mays, and Assistant Manager and Head of Vegetable Production Derek Kelley, Ina, Austin, and Austin’s wife Layla run Ashbourne Farms “the way you would if you were raising food for your own family.” Austin explains, “We raise our animals on pasture, free of antibiotics and added hormones, to ensure that the wholesome foods you put on your table are the highest quality protein you can provide.”\n\nCattle and hens at Ashbourne Farms are allowed to roam free and forage, which produces tastier, more nutritious beef and eggs. Ina says, “The cattle are a mix of Shorthorn and Black Angus, resulting in an excellent foraging animal with nice marbling in the meat, which has a nice ‘beefy’ taste.” Austin adds, “Since our chickens are pasture raised, they lay eggs that are naturally higher in essential Omega 3’s, and other vitamins and minerals. High quality pasture gives our eggs a deep orange color and a marvelous flavor. These are how all eggs should taste.”\n\nAshbourne Farm’s practices reflect the owners’ respect for the land, and their commitment to sustainable agriculture. The farm is also committed to wildlife stewardship, ensuring that Ashbourne Farms respects the delicate balance of the land and those who inhabit it.\n\nFor more information about Ashbourne Farms and its AWA beef, visit www.ashbournefarms.com.
