About Us / B Bar S Ranch History: Beef from B Bar S Ranch is Animal Welfare Approved.\n\nDon and Marianne Stilson have owned their high mountain pastureland in Nederland, Colorado since 1965. In 1985, the family transitioned a horse boarding operation to a grassfed beef operation serving family and neighbors. The operation has been raising cattle with rotational grazing system ever since. Now, Don and Marianne continue to manage the Nederland operation along with Anne Stilson-Cope, their daughter and her husband Grady Cope, who operate a second high plains ranch in Elizabeth, Colorado. B Bar S raises a variety of commercial crossbred beef cattle with Angus bulls for easy calving and good growth.\n\n25 years of managing the land using rotational grazing practices has allowed the B Bar S Ranch family to perfect their pasture management techniques. The system that Don and Marianne put in place in the 1980’s produces high quality grasses which permits them to sustainably graze their cattle at a high density during the summer months and ensures consistency.\n\nAnne Stilson-Cope and her family “decided to pursue Animal Welfare Approved certification for B Bar S Ranch Grassfed Beef,” says Anne, “because it allows us to spell out the practices that we’ve been employing for years. AWA is a great support for the shift to raising animals the right way. It’s the right thing to do.” B Bar S would like to see the expansion of grassfed beef operations and hope that they can keep the price of their beef affordable so everyone can have access to this high-quality and healthy product.\n\nB Bar S Ranch Grassfed Beef is available for order through their website, www.bbarsranch.com.
