Now 40 years later I am even more fascinated than ever ! Beginning in 2000 I purchased 25 assorted purebred chicks from a reputable hatchery. The idea was to show them at fairs and enjoy the eggs. Since then my birds have collected an assortment of blueribbons and trophies. The next change came when I moved to my current 10 acre location when I now have my own hatchery for assorted large breed, brown egg layers. Today I find immense pleasure in caring for my free range flocks in their organic pastures. I even keep a few in the yard as living yard ornaments.
