About Us / Buttercup Farms Garden History: Buttercup Farms is non-profit based in Walnut Creek, California whose primary mission can be summed up in the words “helping others help themselves”. It has a 25 year history of service providing a supportive environment for people with emotional, mental or physical challenges who seek change in their lives. The organization operates in several locations in California and around the world.
The garden on the Clayton property is called Buttercup Farms Garden and is a business utilizing about one acre of land. It is comprised of raised beds, a greenhouse, 2 shade houses, an orchard, and a grape arbor. The purpose of the garden is to promote small-scale agricultural practices and food that are environmentally sound and healthy while encouraging community involvement in the endeavor.
The farm is cultivated with the help of volunteers, who enjoy working outdoors and learning about natural farming practices. These volunteers are both local and international. Many come to us through the WWOOF-USA program. We sell our produce to CSA subscribers in the vicinity of Walnut Creek, Concord, and Pittsburg, California. Many of them have visited the farm and participated in tending the crops. We receive lots of praise for the flavor and freshness of our produce.
