About Us / CCC's Green Market - Urban Farming Project History: 2012/13 SEASON - This is the 4th year of our Urban Farming Project. Seedlings are growing anticipating a September planting by volunteer work parties which include okra, eggplant, peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, mustard greens, radishes, zucchini, yellow squash, and tomatoes, along with herbs, sunflowers, and wildflowers. In November, hydroponic floating nutrient lettuce beds will be added to the garden which will provide arugula, red leafy lettuce, iceberg and romaine.2012/13 SEASON - Cooperative memberships are available as well as CSA memberships for monthly produce boxes. We are a 25 year old not-for profit organization. In 2005, we launched a special initiative in Boynton Beach called "Creating a Healthier Community."We teach inner city pre-schoolers nutrition education that includes hands-on "planting to harvest" activities using the "5 A Day" or "Veggies Matter" materials provided by the Produce for Better Health Foundation. We also teach adults in our Eary Garden Gourmet nutrition cooking and canning classes how to reduce salt, sugar and fat intake and make food costs more affordable and delicious by using fresh, locally grown, seasonal produce. A Special "Thank you" goes to Harvey Oyer, Jr. (Boynton's historian) for the use of his land for our Urban Farming Project and to PBC's Extension Program for helping us to get started. In December of 2010, we launched our Senior Veggie Mobile helping our elderly shut-ins to stay healthy by providing a friendly visit by case managers and bring healthy locally grown produce to them. We offer canning and drying classes, and are obtaining product licensing approval for our pesto, salsa, salad dressing, dried fruit and vegetables. We are a culinary incubator and rent space in our commercial kitchen space to start up entreprenuers like bakers, restaurantuers, caterers, personal chefs, and green market vendors.
