About Us / Chickadee Creek Farm History: Chickadee Creek Farm is a transitional organic vegetable, flower and herb farm. Beginning in 2010, we are diversifying our three-generation family farm and making the move to organic. This is an undertaking by Jess Niederer, a thirteenth-generation farmer, and the one in the family with the green thumb. The farm is on Titus Mill Rd. in Pennington, NJ, and Jess grows on 5 1/2-acres of the 80-acre family farm. The goals of Chickadee Creek are three-pronged; Make a sustainable living off of the family farm, supply our community with healthy and flavorful food and reminders of what farms are like, and do all of this as efficiently as possible to keep costs down and to keep life enjoyable for farmers and food eaters alike. We grow a range of vegetable varieties chosen for flavor and suitability to our climate, running the range from round zucchini, striped heirloom tomatoes, spicy radishes, and atomically hot peppers to sweet lettuces, delicious melons, and the prettiest flowers you’ve ever seen. “Transitional organic” means that we are in the midst of the three-year process of becoming certified organic, and all of our practices follow the rules of the National Organic Program. May of 2012 will be our certification month!
