About Us / Colby Farm History: Colby Farm was established in 1960 by Bill Colby, a 1st generation farmer and Newburyport native. The farm produced hay until 1980. At that time the farm house was built, three hogs were introduced to Colby Farm (2 females & one male) and the farm stand at the end of the driveway on Scotland Road was born. The first farm stand was the bed of a 1959 Chevy Apache pickup truck. Vegetables were grown on one acre behind the house. Today over 300 acres of hay are cut, between 300-400 piglets are sold annually and 25 acres of vegetables supply the seasonal farm stand.
