About Us / Currier Brook Farm B&B, home of Baker River Organics History: FARMING ACTIVITIES:Currier Brook Farm consists of about 5 acres of land not wooded and 15 acres of forest. The house was built in 1795 and was owned by the Curriers until the mid sixties. Carol (my mom) and I bought the farm in 2004 with the intent to turn it back into a working farm and a comfy B&B. We are just learning how to actually implement all of these ideas but our focus is on biodynamics, organic, and infusing permaculture as much as possible. This past year we raised free-wandering chickens for eggs as well as many veggies in our raised lasagna-layered gardens. This year we hope to expand our veggie operation to include early greens and a ton of herbs. We are also planning on planting mushroom spores in Spring '06 and working on our wooded trails to identify, plant and protect endangered native species.Other projects include fencing, building an outdoor stove, an earthen kiln, and working on our treehouse. We are always looking for volunteers, work- traders, and can offer internships.
