About Us / Deer Tracks Farm History: Hi! My name is Kate Long and I'm the farmer/owner of Deer Tracks Farm. I received my training first at Michigan State, where I earned a Certification in Organic Farming; I then completed an intensive internship at a local farm.I chose Ann Arbor as the place for the farm because of all the like-minded people here who need and want local food. The farm is located just 5 miles from downtown, and many wonderful people have come out to volunteer, or just to see where their food is coming from. I strongly encourage visitors, since I believe in "knowing the face of your farmer". I've been growing a wide variety of vegetables since the farm began its freshman year this April. I've also had great luck growing microgreens, pea shoots and edible flowers, which caterers love and individuals are learning the joys of. The farm has a hoophouse, which means it will producing salad mix, braising mix, spinach, and other crops all through the winter. I now sell to individuals and families at my weekly (indoor) farmstand off Jackson Rd., between Wagner and Zeeb. I also sell to chefs. But I'm now expanding the farm, so I'm sending out the call for more foodies and chefs in need of high-quality produce right here in Ann Arbor.
