About Us / Dennison's Family Farm History: In 1960, Don and Genora Dennison, with their children, Wayve (that's me)and Frank, moved from the family farm in Ohio to "The Switch", as itwas locally known, in Elora, TN, just 30 miles north of Huntsville, Al.This is a historic farm that even has its own ghost story. 2010 marksthe Golden Jubilee of Dennison's Family Farm, and the 60th weddinganniversary of Don and Genora! They have spent the last 52+ years trying to be good stewards of the soiland the wildlife on it. About half of our land is in managedtimberland, some in row crops, some resting, and we plant over 50acres of fruits and vegetables.Frank came home to the farm about 25 years ago, and this is my 5th yearcommuting from GA. We are truly a three-generation farm family, asFrank's Parker and Patrick and my Jesse and Nettie Grace worked here ontheir breaks from university. Now that they have all graduated, they will be here whenever they can. Their pictures are on our web site.CSA:Most people know us for our strawberries, but in 2009 we started aCSA, with delivery sites in southern TN and northern AL. It was verysuccessful and we hope to gradually replace our wholesale sales withCSA. We offer both full shares (every week) or half shares (every otherweek). We are thrilled that our CSA members enjoy what we are doing, appreciate the learning experience and care about us as people. Theyare our cheerleaders and new friends. They are learning to eatseasonally and locally, as well as to put up any extra for winter. They are fearless eaters and cooks! Some have even become "chard-heads." One member says, "It's like getting a Christmas stocking every week!" By eating fresh, local food, you are supporting not only the local growers and your own health, but the health of your community. The CSA veggies that cannot be sold are contributed to the gleaners at The Society of St. Andrew, to Manna House, or other worthy institutions. It is your participation that keeps family farms alive. Remember, Community is the first word in CSA. Come join us for some mighty fine eatin'!
