About Us / East Acres Farm History: Milk-fed, pasture-raised beef, veal and lamb processed by a USDA-inspected facility in Vermont and delivered weekly to consumers (restaurants and homeowners). Our calves are purchased from local dairy herds in MA, CT & RI at 2 days old and immediately fostered onto milking cows that graze in rotated pastures adjacent to our barn. They all have access to rotated pastures, artesian well water and good hay free-choice year-round; during the winter when no pasture is available, the cows are fed hi-protein (2nd cut) hay and corn silage supplemented with 16% protein dairy ration. No silage or grain is fed to the calves or lambs. We use no medications or hormones in our animals and if one does require an antibiotic, it is ultimately used for dog food. Our meat chickens are started in sterile brooders then gradually given additional space to move about in a draft-free coop heated in the winter. After 8 weeks they are processed in a USDA-inspected facility and the coop sterilized in preparation for the next batch.
