About Us / Easy pickins farm History: I grew up in central Texas in a Place called Comanche Gap, My father had a zoo with Alligators, bears, and all types of native animals so I grew up working with them all. But my favorite thing was to go to my grandmother Icy's house she was an old style country lady grew her own food and preserved it by Canning it and making her own Jellies, Jam's and Pickles and I always was there to help during the summer. I along with my beautiful wife Patty have passed this love of the land and Natural food on to our son Michael. Michael is now running the farm day to day. is 23 years old managed to get two majors finished in four years of college, had great job opportunities but decided he wanted to make a difference by not only bringing people back to the farm but growing healthy great tasting food the way God intend and getting people into the process hands own . So they can get the same satisfaction of picking and eating there own food as he does. In the past year we have planted 1900 blackberry plants that are now 5 feet tall and should produce a great crop in the spring of 15 we have also planted over 2400 blueberry plants that should produce the first good drop this next spring as well. in addition we have a muscadine grape orchard that should be in production in fall of 2016 as well as a 160 peach trees that will have there first real production that same year.
In addition we manage 392 mature Pecan trees these trees have no chemicals sprayed on the at all as all insect control is none organically and sustainable using beneficial insects.
