About Us / Fern Creek Farm History: We're 4th generation Oregonians with farming in our bones, even if most of that farming shifted to gardening along the way. We're in our 5th year as a CSA and our mission is to grow affection for land, community, and food. We do that by keeping our CSA small enough to allow members to get to know and interact with us and each other. We have 25 member families, and feed about 100 people fruit and vegetables on less than an acre of cultivated land. Chickens and bees round out our farm, and help us in various ways in exchange for a rather wonderful, safe, and clean spot on earth.
Fern Creek is host to various gatherings around food, and we hold cooking and preservation classes besides. Mark and Lisa are also academics, Lisa a sociologist and Mark a psychologist. Lisa stopped teaching a couple years ago to be allow more time to develop Fern Creek and to free up more time to write about food ethics and earth stewardship. We have a residential apprenticeship program for two people/year which allows us to offer more to the community and to pass on what we know to two engaged and interested young adults every year.
