About Us / Four Paws Farm & Vineyard History: Produces Animal Welfare Approved chicken eggs, duck eggs, and geese. \n\nCathy Kassab and Dave Abler raise Animal Welfare Approved laying hens, laying ducks and geese at Four Paws Farm & Vineyard in West Decatur, PA. As the name would suggest they’ve also started a vineyard with wine grape varieties of Riesling, Marechal Foch, and Vidal Blanc and Concord for their table grape variety. In season, they also sell a wide range of sustainably-raised herbs, including basil, rosemary, chives, thyme, and French tarragon.\n\nAll of their birds are raised on pasture, and provided with certified organic grain to supplement, as needed, what they eat on pasture. Cathy and Dave began farming in 2010 and named the farm "Four Paws" in honor of their dogs and cats as they are both active in animal rescue and have several rescue animals at home.\n\nCathy and Dave raise several different breeds of birds. Their laying hen breeds include Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Jersey Black Giants, Brown Leghorns and Anconas. Their duck breeds include Cayugas and Indian Runners and they both produce a beautiful assortment of egg colors, grey or black shells from the Cayugas and blue, green or beige from the Indian Runners. The geese are Chinese Crested Weeder Cheese. They guard the other birds, as well as the rest of the farm. They also help eat the weeds in the vineyard.\n\nTo learn more about Four Paws Farm & Vineyard, please visit http://4pawsfarmvineyard.com/.
