About Us / Great Falls Farmer's Market History: The origin of the Great Falls Original Farmer's Market dates back to the 1970's when Hutterite Colonies sold their produce door-to-door. In the late 1970's a handful of Hutterite Colonies and local farmers started setting up by the Civic Center in downtown Great Falls and thus began the "unofficial" Great Falls Farmer's Market. In 1982 they made it official when they adopted bylaws and became a non-profit trade association known as the Great Falls Original Farmer's Market.
In the beginning there were just a handful of vendors but by the year 2000 the Market had grown to 110 vendors. Today the Great Falls Farmer's Market is the largest farmer's market in Montana with over 250 different vendors throughout the season with an average of 140-150 vendors each Saturday. It is the biggest family-friendly social and shopping event in Great Falls. People come from all over the United States and the world to visit our Market.
We have a wide variety of products for shoppers to choose from and with new vendors joining every week there's always something fresh and fun to experience. In addition to fresh, seasonal produce there are baked goods, jams, jellies and syrups, fresh local honey, unique handcrafted items of all kinds, concessions serving local favorites like porkies-on-a-stick and fry bread, plus much more. To add to the fun there are entertainers, pony rides for the kids, and prizes at every Market.
The Great Falls Farmer's Market is open every Saturday from 7:45am - noon from June through September. In mid-July we add a Wednesday evening Market from 4:30 - 6:30pm. We are located in downtown Great Falls next to the Civic Center (2 Park Drive South).
