About Us / Green Ola Acres History: Produces Animal Welfare Approved chicken eggs.\n\nPhilip and Patricia Bennett’s mixed produce and chicken farm grew slowly. In 1992, they left the suburbs to live on 50 acres in McDonough, Georgia, 40 miles south of Atlanta. Patricia, who had grown up with a family garden, started to grow food for the family’s consumption on a small plot. Every year, the garden grew and grew and after a successful trip to the farmers’ market to sell a bumper crop of cucumbers in 2004, the family’s farm business was born.\n\nGreen Ola Acres is now home to a flock of Animal Welfare Approved laying hens as well. Their Araucana, Road Island Red, and New Hampshire Red chickens lay colorful pastured eggs that sell out every week at the Atlanta farmers’ markets that Philip and Patricia attend. The Bennett’s are proud of keeping their chickens happy and were confident when they learned about Animal Welfare Approved certification that their pastured operation would meet the program’s high standards.\n\nPatricia and Philip’s son, Philip Jr., helps out on Green Ola Acres and they hope that he’ll choose to run the family’s farm business one day.
