About Us / Gregory's Boxwood Farm History: Clark and Tim Gregory are two brothers who make up the fifth generation of the Gregory family to live and work on the family farm in Java, VA. When their great-great grandfather moved his family from Amherst County, Virginia to the current Boxwood Farm location in the 19th century, they packed their fragile items with boughs from boxwood bushes (the old-time equivalent of packaging peanuts). Once the family had unpacked in their new location, the boxwood sprigs were stuck into the ground on either side of the walkway up to the house. The growing boxwood hedges became a distinctive feature of the property, which was soon known throughout the community as "the boxwood farm." Both the farm and boxwoods flourished, and the boxwood bushes that grew from those sprigs still line the entrance to Boxwood Farm today.
