About Us / Griggstown Farm Market History: Griggstown Quail Farm, started in 1973 by George Rude with 12 quail on two acres of land, now raises pheasants, quail, chicken, and when in season, Mallard and Muscovy ducks, Red Bourbon heritage turkeys (as well as white), and partridge. All the birds are free-range and all natural, a standard George keeps to this day.The Griggstown Farm Market, located on the farm, opened in 2002 to make its poultry available to the public by selling fresh and frozen poultry along with choice produce grown on the farm. In 2004, George added a USDA certified kitchen and storage area to the Market and hired Chef Matthew Sytsema. Today the Griggstown Farm Market offers many items including chicken and turkey pot pies, assorted fruit pies, cakes, cookies, assorted hand pies, soups, turkey chili, and turkey patties. For the 2010 growing season, the Griggstown Quail Farm & Market is proud to announce the 2nd season of a new Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program designed to offer our valued customers fresh, local, naturally-grown produce at an affordable cost. Participants in the program will receive a weekly supply of freshly-harvested vegetables and herbs.Fresh vegetables and herbs will also be available for public purchase in the Griggstown Farm Market Store. An adjacent annual and perennial flower & herb garden will allow customers to pick their own quantity of fresh culinary herbs & flowers.
