About Us / Harford Farm and Flower Market History: Out standing in the field! Harford Farm is a small family farm, certified organic by NOFA-NY Certified Organic LLC. We sell through a CSA and at the well-established Cooperative Farmers Market of Scranton. We grow a wide selection of vegetables, herbs, cut flowers and fruit, all available through individual $100 CSA shares. For 2013 we're using a new-fangled, no-contract, simplified CSA system.Being certified organic means we start every vegetable plant from seed ourselves. Right now, onions, leeks, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and celery plants are already thriving under growlights and will soon move to the heated and passive solar greenhouses. Brandywine, Orange Banana, Black Krim, and Green Zebra are just some of the heirlooms we have started, along with the favorite orange cherry tomato Sunsugar/Sungold.New this year: fresh ginger and tumeric. Our other specialties are salad/field mix, an asian spicy mix, kales and other greens, along with baby summer squash--again in many colors, sizes and shapes. From the greenhouse come sprouted lentils, pea shoots and wheatgrass. We also grow truckfulls of cut sunflowers, glads, cosmos, lisianthus, aster and zinnia bouquets until frost. Geof's hand-thrown pottery works well with all the flowers, and a selection of pots are also displayed at the Scranton Market. We welcome your suggestions, brochure requests, and offers to weed. The Scranton Market opens for 2013 on July 17th. See you soon.
