About Us / Hickory Hurst Farm History: Family-owned since 1908, Hickory Hurst Farm started as a former dairy farm, but now focuses on growing fresh cut flowers, herbs, garlic, vegetables, and some small berries--blueberries, gooseberries, strawberries--on about 10 acres of our 96 acre farm. We grow our cut flowers and produce naturally, using organic seed as much as possible. Starting this year (2013) we are shifting to no-till/reduced tillage, eventually eliminated conventional plowing. We rotate our crops, use cover crops, and compost our vegetable waste. Fresh herbs range from basil to lovage to thyme. Our vegetables range from asparagus to greens to zucchini, including our heirloom tomatoes and peppers. Our homemade pies include raw honey from the farm's bee yard.We market our cut flowers, herbs, produce, honey, and pies through the farm's roadside stand April-November and during July-August through our booth at the Chautauqua Farmers' Market. At our farm stand we also sell our own firewood--by the bundle or face cord. In addition, we carry local produce, maple syrup, salsa, and brown eggs to supplement our own farm products.
