About Us / Honey Tree Acres Farm and Gardens, LLC History: Our father and mother, Dennis and Suzanne Hebauf, purchased our 115 acre farm in 1970. There they raised us, Peter, Gabrielle, and Timothy, in a small farm house, our childhood home. We're located in West Harrison, Indiana in the quiet little community of Southgate, just 3 miles north of St. Leon, Indiana.
The farm has transformed over the years, starting with beef cattle and hogs in the 1970's, a dairy farm in the late 70's and 80's, and conventionally farmed with row crops from the late 80's until 2010.
In 2010, our Dad decided to pursue his dream of doing something different with the farm. He wanted to build a sustainable system to support the family and community and provide quality flowers, produce, chickens, eggs, and grass-fed beef that we, in good conscience, can say are raised using organic practices.
Dad bought several greenhouses and retired in 2013 with the hopes of getting something started. On June 16, 2013, he asked his eldest son Pete, and daughter-in-law Linda, if they would take the farm and get a business going. He suddenly passed away a few hours later.
In January 2014, Pete left his corporate job to pursue the dream. We completed all of our infrastructure projects by the end of 2015 - including 2 greenhouses, 4 high tunnels and a walk in cooler.
Since 2014, we have been growing and selling cut flowers and produce following organic practices although, we are not certified. We also raise free range soy-free, non-GMO eggs and pasture raised, soy-free, non-GMO meat chickens.
In 2015, we successfully introduced CSA's into our farming model.
We use only non-gmo or organic seeds and start all of our seeds ourselves.
We grind our own custom blend soy-free chicken feed using either certified organic or non-gmo grains.
