About Us / Idle Thyme Farm History: Idle Thyme Farm was founded in 2002 on a fallow piece of pasture in Southeast Wyoming on the premise that every community needs fresh, sustainable, locally produced food. In 2004 Idle Thyme Farm opened one of the first Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs in Wyoming. Our dedication to local agriculture motivated us to help establish the Wyoming Fresh Market, Cheyenne's grower's only farmers market. We utilize an integrated and diverse approach to organic vegetable, fruit, and herb production. We view the farm as a system that respects biodiversity and encourages soil health and fertility through natural means. We implement green manure crops, on-farm animal manure, crop rotation, beneficial bug habitats and integrated pest management as just a few of our sustainable growing techniques. Weare passionate about the concepts of biodynamic agriculture.Idle Thyme Farm specializes in heirloom vegetables. We practice and promote genetic diversity and seed saving. To this end, we never use genetically modified (GMO) seed stock and we choose to purchase seed from companies that have signed the safe seed pledge.UPDATE: In 2006 the owner/operator was in a car accident that caused operations at the farm to cease. In 2009 the farm was moved about a mile from the previous location. Since then we have been in the process of soil improvement and natural fertilization. We had planned our Grand Re-opening for 2011 but a family emergency prevented our plans from going forward. We are eagerly looking forward to 2012 when we plan to return to market and hang our "Open For Business" sign once again. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
