About Us / Lavender Hill Farm History: Lavender Hill Farm is a 30 acre lavender and sheep farm in the rolling sandy hills of southwest Michigan near Niles. We currently have over 4500 lavender plants on 1 acre including several varieties of English lavender and hybrid "lavandins". We sell fresh cut lavender, produce dried lavender products and distill our own fine quality lavender hydrosol (floral water) and essential oil. We also produce fine quality, varietal, lavender honey. We have a small shop on the farm where we sell our handmade products by appointment or on advertised days (check our website). We also market these products at local farmers markets in periodically, such as the Niles French Market, in downtown Niles, and the Chesterton European Market. Check our website (www.thelavenderhill.com) for market dates. We also raise Black Welsh Mountain Sheep, a heritage breed. These animals are exceptionally easy to raise and can produce a dense black wool, although generally it is bleached brown at the surface. The wool is suitable for spinning and felting. Black Welsh are also a good meat breed with a good meat to bone ratio. They are a small animal, and can survive on, and actually prefer pasture to grain. We sell Black Welsh breeding stock, wool and live animals when available.
