About Us / Lexington Valley Vineyard History: Lexington Valley Vineyard is located on 67 rolling, scenic acres in the Shenandoah Valley ten minutes Northwest of Lexington, Virginia. The first planting of Norton grapes was completed in March, 2000. Norton (sometimes called Cynthiana) is a Virginia original first described around 1835. Norton is believed to be a naturally occurring cross between an American wild grape and a French cultivar. The wine from this grape is a deeply colored, dry red with a very full-bodied flavor. If you like a complex dry red wine like Merlot, we highly recommend you try a bottle of Norton.
