Kathy and Liam established Longfellow’s and Second Chance Farm, LLC in 2001. The farm was named after the Longfellow Mountains–a range that runs throughout Maine–and their cheeses are named for the range’s individual peaks, such as Bigelow Blue and Tumbledown Tomme.\n\nBoth Kathy and Liam have extensive backgrounds in agriculture and gastronomy. Liam grew up on a small farm in Ireland, while Kathy owned and operated a catering business on Nantucket for over twenty years before their move to Maine. At Longfellow’s their motto is, “Nourishing the body, sustaining the spirit, and celebrating community.” Kathy and Liam believe in creating a farming system that is ethical and sustainable for both their animals, as well as their consumers.\n\nKathy and Liam’s Animal Welfare Approved grassfed beef, artisanal cheese, raw milk, and organic yogurt are available for purchase on their farm, at local health food stores, and at regional customer pick-ups points.
