About Us / Maysie's Farm Conservation Center History: Maysie's Farm Conservation Center is a non profit, educational organization dedicated to improving public understanding of the importance of conservation and ecological thinking. Our advocacy, community development and educational programs primarily address the environmental, social and economic problems of our regional food system including: the sustainability of conventional agricultural practices, the nutritional value of conventionally grown foods, the efficiency of long distance food distribution, the economic and cultural viability of family farmsand the effects of childhoods insulated from the natural world. By broadening horizons and offering successful alternatives to the conventional system, we inspire families to use their power as consumers to bring change to the ailing food system. Weare working towards a local, sustainable food system right here in Chester County, PA, which although it is, by far, the most rapidly developing county in the state, still has a rich agricultural heritage, lots of little pieces of open space, wonderfully productive soils, a good growing climate and, certainly, plenty of consumers. Our programs include: a CSA (a Community Supported Agriculture farm), a Farm and School Partnership, the Anselma Farmers Market, Sustainable Agriculture Internships, School and Youth Programs, Teacher Training Workshops, Outreach Programs and Consulting Services. We raise a wide variety of vegetables on about 7 acres of organically managed (but no longer "certified organic") beds. We also have a number of "Cooperative Marketing Arrangements" with other local farmers who produce foods other than vegetables. Our members have the opportunity to purchase organic fruits, organic pastured chickens, eggs, beef and pork and a complete line of organic, pastured, raw milk dairy products. We also offer Alaskan sockeye salmon which has been wild-caught by a Pennsylvania family. We are expanding our Cooperative Marketing Arrangements to include other local foods, such as baked goods, honey, wine and more raw milk cheeses.
