About Us / Midnight Sun Farm History: Midnight Sun Farm is a family farm located in Harvard, IL. Nick, Becky, Ray and Gus grow over 40 kinds of fresh vegetables and raise pastured chickens and turkeys. Our goal is to provide great tasting, high quality produce and humanely raised meat and eggs to customers in Chicago and the northwestern suburbs. We take particular pride in growing delicious vegetables that help our customers rekindle the joy and excitement of cooking and eating real, healthy food. We sell our produce at the Glenwood Sunday Market (in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood) and through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
We believe in the importance of being good stewards of the land, and every growing practice that we follow is chosen to help minimize the environmental impact of our agricultural activities. We are currently entering the second year of the three year process of transitioning our new farmland into organic production. During this transition period, we use the same practices that an organic farm would follow.
Every week, our CSA members receive a box containing 7-10 different types of vegetables (and sometimes honey or other treats), along with suggestions on how to cook and store the produce. Members can also sign up to receive a box every other week, or to receive six boxes throughout the growing season. Members can change their pick-up site if necessary, and can also create a custom share when picking up at one of our farmers market locations. We consider a CSA subscription to be a great purchase if you and your family love vegetables, if you cook often, and if you enjoy being introduced to new ingredients.
Communities we serve through CSA deliveries and and markets include: Harvard, Woodstock, Oak Park, and the Chicago neighborhoods of Rogers Park, Ravenswood, Noble Square, Ukranian Village, Logan Square, and Humboldt Park.
