About Us / Montara Meadows Honey History: Catherine "Cat" Fraley has only been in the bee business for a few years, but the honey her bees produce, as well as the bees themselves, are in high demand. In one of the most fertile areas of California, many farm crops are in need of bee pollination. Much of the produce you buy at a farmers' market was helped along by your common honey bee! Cat donates hives to many local organic farmers, where the bees spread pollen grains amongst flowers. Pollination increases the number of fruit, and the size thereof, in crops. The honey Cat bottles up range in color and taste; the bees that feed on wild blackberry and buckwheat fields yield darker caramel hues. Her thistle honey is bright gold in color, and milder tasting. Cat bottles up her honey directly from the bees; its natural antiseptics allow her to skip particular sterilization steps. Find her honey and creamed honey at the Coastside Farmers' markets, and Toque Blanche and GBerta. Next time you leave the market with celery, beets, watermelon, onion, or cucumbers, thank not just the farmer, but the Cat and her bees!
