About Us / Native Earth Teaching Farm History: Native Earth Teaching Farm is a small family farm on Martha's Vineyard which is open to the public for farm tours and agricultural activities three days a week in summer and one morning a week and by appt. the rest of the year. We host a community garden and a range of individual projects involving pygmy goats, sheep, pigs and poultry. We raise several heirloom breeds and are especially fond of our Campbell and Cayuga ducks. We also teach farm crafts such as spinning and natural dyeing. We hold a community garden day in the spring and a popcorn festival in the fall, and frequent planting days in our permaculture food forest. People like our free range eggs with a few green Auracana eggs in most every dozen. We also sell pastured Berkshire pork and free range chicken, duck, and sometimes turkey. Community gardeners sometimes have surplus fresh vegetables for sale, and we sell small amounts of fresh fruit during their season - check our website under Now Harvesting Tastes and Treats. All our methods are determined by good sense, safety, sustainability, and flavor, so we use organic methods although we do not seek certification. We instead encourage people to come to our farm and talk to us about what they want. Delight in this beautiful place is our specialty.
