About Us / North Valley Farms Chèvre, Inc. History: Deneane and Mark Ashcraft descend from California pioneer farming families. Deneane is the sixth consecutive generation of her family to farm in California. Their Grade A Goat dairy is one of the few in California where the owner operators still milk and care for the goat herd themselves personally and also make their own cheese. All goats have been born on the farm for multiple generations and the herd is closed and does not purchase animals. New genetics are brought in using artificial insemination. Many does have earned the Superior Genetics designation.
The farm grows hay using organic sustainable methods and the goats have year round access to pasture. Milk is free of antibiotics, hormones and pesticides/herbicides are not used. The goats are not fed corn or soy.
North Valley Farms Chèvre was the first Goat Dairy in the U.S. to earn Animal Welfare Certification in 2009. North Valley Farms Cheeses have been award winners at California State Fair, American Cheese Society, and a gold medalist at the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest in Wisconsin. Pasteurized Chèvre, Feta, and raw milk aged Tomme are made on the farm.
North Valley Farms Chèvre is also State Licensed to package and sell Raw Milk.
