About Us / North Country Farms History: We grow 3 acres of organic produce year-round -- a few market gardens of mixed vegetables including 7 varieties of lettuce, arugula, kale, swiss chard, oriental steaming greens, beans, beets, radishes, basil, cilantro, peppers, cherry cherry tomatoes, chayote, collards, scallions, leeks and eggplant. There are orchard trees bearing avocados, limes, grapefruit, oranges, mangos, lychee, and papaya. And, not to be forgotten - our pineapple field, banana groves and our tropical flowers growing so beautifully and abundantly.
As conscious omnivores and with a sincere belief in local sustainability and an integrated farm, we raise free-ranging ducks, chickens and rabbits for eggs, meat and manure.
Our produce is sold directly to 50-60 families weekly. It is a really rewarding endeavor to be able to provide fresh organic food for the tables of so many people in the community. We all care about this island and are happy to support each other in growing and buying organically. In addition, we run a monthly health food co-op here at the farm with a number of other families. We order our organic groceries from the mainland in bulk and case lots and share in the distribution.
We do believe in activism by lifestyle. The choices we have made since being blessed to own and work this 4 acre piece of paradise here have been conscious ones. They are choices which we believe add to the quality of life here on Kauai for those of us who call this precious piece of the planet our home, and which add to the quality of experience for the visitors who travel to this unequaled gem of an island. Operating our business in a sustainable manner is a rewarding life for us.
