About Us / Ranch Run-A-Muk History: Nestling on a piece of land in southwest Missouri, farmer Anthony Moseley describes his family’s Ranch Run-A-Muk as “our little slice of heaven.” While they’re the first to admit it might not be the largest farm in Missouri, the Moseley family immediately fell in love with the view: “When we first visited the plot, we were told that we’d have a near 16 mile view to the southwest to the furthest ridge in view,” says Anthony. “There is nothing more calming than to sit outside and just let the world pass you by.” The family moved to the farm from the greater Saint Louis area to live a more sustainable lifestyle. \nThe Moseleys raise Animal Welfare Approved laying hens and enjoy providing a quality environment for their flock. They have a wide assortment of different breeds on the farm, including Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, Ameraucana (the Easter egg chicken), and Welsummer hens. “Our prize rooster is a Black Copper Maran,” says Anthony. “The thing that I enjoy most, other than collecting our eggs daily, is my time to sit at the table and drink coffee and watch the chickens. I built a jungle gym for the chickens to play on. It is the shape of a child's swing-set with a platform at the top for cracked corn or other chicken treats.” \nAnthony explains that regular pasture rotation is important for the health of their land and their birds: “It really only makes common sense to move the flock to fresher pastures in a timely fashion. For one thing, without that rotation they pretty much devour the bugs and vegetation on one section anyway, while the bugs and weeds are thriving on the rest of our property! But moving them regularly prevents the build-up of potential pests and disease, and ensures the pasture has time to recover.” The Moseleys are in the process of changing their chicken coop design, moving from a stationary chicken coop design to having multiple mobile coops that can be moved easily from paddock to paddock. This will significantly improve pasture utilization on the farm.\nThe Moseley’s received their certification from AWA in August 2013 for their laying hens: “It was quite the honor to receive certification on our first attempt. We follow all the guidelines set by the AWA to the letter, so our customers know they can count on a quality product when they buy from us. By following the AWA standards, we can grow even happier birds and have the prestige of showing the AWA banner. We’re looking forward to growing our flock as our customer base continues to grow. We love having satisfied customers as much as we do having happy birds!”\nRanch Run-A-Muk supply fresh eggs direct to their local community from the farm seven days a week, from 8am until 5pm: “There’s nothing better than farm fresh eggs, you will never buy at the store again!” says Anthony. “Please call ahead of time to ensure we have the number of eggs you need.”\nFor more information about Ranch Run-A-Muk, visit www.ranch-run-a-muk.com.
