About Us / Schilke's Farm Market and Greenhouse History: We've been Mom and Pop farming in the Berrien County, Mich area for over 50 years. Mostly marketing our field products in the Souh Bend area.
We now have a spring, summer and fall outdoor and indoor market (Spinks Corners), that retails many types of annual flowers, vegetable plants and a small line of perennial plants and shrubs, in addition to the fruits and vegetables that we raise or source locally.
As of lately, our son Michael Arthur has arrived on board to assist in the formation of a more sustainable practice of gardening and farming.
We now are brewing our own compost tea and applying it to all plants that we currently raise and then sell, as well to the field for our own crops.
Every sale gets a boat load of additional information on the benefits of sustainable bio-dynamic farming practices from Mike.
We now like to recycle here, and things get chopped and frozen or canned up in a mason jar. For us or for sale to others who like these kinds if items.
In the winter when things are usually still, we're making grape-apple cider, keeping herbs alive, picking strawberries and growing romaine lettuce in the greenhouse.
Outdoors we might be chopping wood, for the next batch of bio-char.
A new winter store arrived a few years back as our indoor facility. Open all year now.
All together its a place where real relationships are born and knowledge is gained and shared.
After all we have a future to build.
Our popular Napier market location that we are currently farming, is in transition to a modern day bio- dynamic family u-pick farm to table eatery.
