About Us / Urban Solace History: We feature Modern American Food and a fantastic selection of boutique wines, hand made cocktails and craft beer.
We are located in the heart of North Park in San Diego, near bustling neighborhoods of Hillcrest, South Park and University Heights, and just north of Downtown San Diego and Balboa Park. We are open seven days a week and feature our famous “Bluegrass Brunch” every Sunday.
We are committed to using the best products available to create our unique menu. Our meats are all naturally produced; hormone and antibiotic free; our seafood selection adheres to the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch list, our Eggs are locally acquired and we strive for the best seasonal produce there is. We hand make all of our flavored syrups for our cocktail list and have a large selection of either sustainable, organic or biodynamic West Coast produced wines on our list. ALL of our bar and menu items are prepared without the use of High Fructose Corn Syrup and we are the first San Diego Restaurant to feature Boylan Bottling Company’s all natural soda on tap.
We are folks who love tasty food and even better service. It is what inspires us every day and keeps us looking to innovate and create memorable experiences. Chef, Matt Gordon, has always wanted to create the type of place that people in his line of work would want to go to. So sometimes we use some “out-there” ingredients and play with stuff you may not have heard of, but it is all in the spirit of fun and good food! What originally started as a chef driven neighborhood casual restaurant has grown into a testing ground for how to do things differently than many restaurants. Matt has been in the industry for years, but realized that an upscale commercial kitchen is still a bastion of artificial or overly processed junk. So he set out on a mission: to create a place where he felt good about the product he serves, down to the most basic ingredients.
