About Us / Weksny Acres History: Eric grew up in the Pennsylvania Dutch county where he spent a good deal of time around the Pennsylvania Dutch and their farms, and learning how to raise fruits and vegetables in his family's gardens. After that he was not in the position to do much farming until he and Wendy bought Weksny Acres in the spring of 2009. Eric and Wendy Slatt began their fresh produce farm in 2009 with a fifty by fifty foot plot of tomatoes and green beans. Since then, Weksny Acres has expanded to over 1/4 acre in growing plots, where we grow a variety of over 25 types vegetables, herbs, melons, and berries, with the addition of a 1/4 acre orchard that contains 12 types of fruit and nut trees, along with berries and grapes. We take pride in being “low input” farmers, meaning we use as many organic and all-natural methods of controlling weeds, insects and disease as we can. We are not certified organic, though. We read a lot and use the method that were available to our forefathers, and raise our heritage fruits and vegetables the "old-fashioned way without and chemical fertilizers or pest killers. .Our son and daughters are in the fields with us every day, and we won’t do anything that we feel would do any harm our precious gifts from God.
