Food Movement Glossary



Compost is a mixture that consists largely of decayed organic matter and is used for fertilizing and conditioning land.

Example of Compost:

Food wastes containing plant materials, such as salad and fruits are part of composting ingredients. When combined with a certain type of bacteria, these food wastes turn into compost that can be used as plant foods in gardening and farming.
