About Us / Rehoboth Homestead History: Growing Good Food!
Flavor! Flavor! Flavor! We grow following strict organic standards - our chickens, ducks, and pigs are fed certified organic feeds. We closely follow national organic standards in our vegetable and flower production, and that matters to many of our members and customers. But what really brings people back week after week and year after year is the flavor of our food. It just tastes good. I'm not sure what we do differently, except maybe our attitude while working, but folks frequently insist our veggies are the best tasting.
Beth went to grad school studying soil science because she wanted to be an organic homesteader and knew the basis was the soil. After working in various university labs and "office" jobs supporting farmers, she finally branched out on her own in 2004, beginning with a small vegetable CSA and pastured broilers and eggs, taking her extras to farmers markets. The CSA has grown and we now have a small farmstand open May - October for our extras so we can concentrate our time at the farm. Beth organized the Plattsburgh Winter Farmers Market to provide both a market for local farmers and also an easy way for folks to continue eating local through the off-season.
We do sell year-round. We have a year-round "Support a Hen" CSA since our hens lay year-round. Our veggie and meat CSAs are broken into spring (May and June), summer (July to Columbus Day), and fall (Columbus Day to Christmas). May through October the farmstand is open. November through April folks get eggs and meat out of our porch frig, or order veggies online through the Plattsburgh Winter Farmers Market to pick up at the farm or at the market.
